چکیده

This paper focuses on analysing the variation in IEEE802.11k channel load measurements for neighbouring WLAN systems. The channel load functionality was implemented in the QualNet simulation tool, and several scenarios were configured for testing. The effects of different numbers of active systems with different traffic patterns were examined. The results obtained indicate significant variation in channel load values calculated by different stations experiencing different levels of interference. This variation leads us to question the usefulness of a single channel load measurement; hence considerable care must be taken when using and interpreting such measurements.

A 5GHz WLAN MAC Performance Comparison Based on Physical Layer Measurements

This paper presents a MAC performance comparison between IEEE 802.11a, 802.11e and HiperLAN/2 WLAN standards. These standards share the same OFDM physical layer at 5GHz but offer very different medium access and retransmission mechanisms. In addition, the radio channel is very difficult to model and to predict over a long period. Therefore, some simulations of the different MAC and error contro...

A new approach for achieving excellent strain homogeneity in tubular channel angular pressing (TCAP) process

Tubular channel angular pressing (TCAP) is a recently invented novel severe plastic deformation technique for producing UFG tubes. Plastic deformation analysis using the finite element method (FEM) was carried out to investigate the effects of trapezoidal channel geometry on strain inhomogeneity index (SII), strain level and required load compared to previously used channel geometries. The resu...

The Effect of High Penetration Level of Distributed Generation Sources on Voltage Stability Analysis in Unbalanced Distribution Systems Considering Load Model

Static voltage stability is considered as one of the main issues for primary identification before voltage collapsing in distribution systems. Although, the optimum siting of distributed generation resources in distribution electricity network can play a significant role in voltage stability improving and losses reduction, the high penetration level of them can lead to reduction in the improvem...

Modeling of WLAN Beacon Signal Strength Measured in an Indoor Environment

In the fourth generation wireless networks, it is believed that wireless LANs (WLANs) will interwork with cellular systems to provide fast speed data services. The integration of WLANs and cellular systems calls for a careful design of handover decisions. In WLANs, the received signal strength (RSS) is used for handover decision, thus a thorough understanding of the characteristics of the RSS o...

Channel Model and Capacity for Broadband Indoor MIMO-WLAN Systems Based on Measurements at 2.4GHz

The paper provides a channel model which is suited for broadband indoor WLAN (wireless local area network) applications. Especially the communication within one room is addressed. These applications are characterised by no or very slow movements of the terminal in conjunction with high data rates requiring high bandwidths for transmission. Present WLAN systems offer data rates up to 108 Mb/s, m...
